Getting around Winter Garden by golf cart has just become more accessible with the recent approval by the Winter Garden City Commission to expand the city's Golf Cart District. The expansion extends existing routes south Downtown Winter Garden and spans to the east and north of downtown. As part of the process, speed limits on several roads were lowered in November ahead of the vote, a key factor in allowing additional streets to qualify for golf cart use.

Winter Garden Communities Now Included In The Golf Cart District

Based on the city's approved map, the expanded district now includes several residential communities north of downtown Winter Garden, extending access along E. Crest Avenue and N. Fullers Cross Road. Additional sections of east downtown Winter Garden were also added between S. Dillard Street & 9th Street, south of Plant Street. Select streets north of E Maple Street, east of 9th Street, south of Plant Street, and west of the 429 were also included.

Here is a list of some of the newest communities to be added to the Golf Cart District:

Access To Downtown Winter Garden

These expanded routes give residents even more connectivity to downtown. Whether heading to the weekly Saturday Farmers Market, the Plant Street Market for dinner, or shopping along Plant Street, it's now easier than ever to travel locally without relying on a vehicle for short trips. Plus, it's so much more fun!

Did we mention the events built to embrace golf cart culture? Don't miss the annual Winter Garden Christmas Golf Cart Parade hosted by the West Orange Junior Service League and City of Winter Garden. Each year, nearly 100 decorated golf carts line the streets of downtown as part of the holiday celebration.

What To Know About Golf Cart Use In Winter Garden

Golf cart use in Winter Garden is regulated by city ordinance and state law. Golf carts must be driven only on approved roadways. Carts are not permitted on sidewalks or the West Orange Trail. Drivers must meet age and identification requirements, and carts must comply with the city's speed and roadway limits.

Rules can vary by community, and some homeowner's associations may have additional restrictions. Checking within the individual HOA is recommended. The City of Winter Garden publishes the official Golf Cart District map and maintains the most up-to-date information related to approved routes and regulations.
