Bringing US-27 and SR 429 Together with the New Independence Parkway (NIP) Extension
The long-awaited New Independence Parkway Extension between US-27 and SR-429 is set to begin construction this week. With the project planning beginning in 2021, it has been a long time coming for Clermont residents seeking a quicker connection to Hamlin, Winter Garden, the 429, and Disney. Estimated completion is slated for early 2027.
Where Exactly is the NIP Extension?
Located south of McKinney Road at the Lake County and Orange County border, this 1-mile extension will connect the end of Wellness Way Boulevard to just east of Avalon Road. The NIP Extension will include a 10-foot multi-use path on either side of the road.
What This Means for Daily Travel in Clermont and Horizon West
For commuters, Disney fans and employees, and local residents seeking a faster and more efficient route between Clermont and Winter Garden, this extension will provide much-needed relief from road traffic on other smaller connecting roadways like Hartwood Marsh & Marsh Road, north of the planned roadway, and Schofield Road, located south of the NIP.
Opening the Door for New Communities in Clermont and Winter Garden
With new construction communities continuing to emerge in these areas, including Wellness Ridge, Ridgeview, and Parkside Trails, this connector allows more opportunities for buyers to consider a location that previously may have been outside their desired drive time.
The Funk Collection team always has their eye out for new and upcoming communities coming to Southwest Orlando, including Winter Garden and Clermont areas, and with even more development likely to happen, now is the time to connect with the team to discuss your future plans and explore how these changes could align with your real estate goals.
