Downtown Ocoee DG DoughnutsNot to discount any of the local bakeries in Windermere, there are some fantstic places to get a sweet treat, but there is a small shop in downtown Ocoee that makes the short drive worth it every time.

DG Doughnuts sits on McKey Street in downtown Ocoee, just 5.5 miles from downtown Windermere. What started in a home kitchen and later inside a gas station in Oakland has grown into a downtown staple.

DG Doughnuts built a following for its variety of specialty yeast doughnuts, known for rotating flavors that shift with the seasons and holidays. As demand grew, the show expanded into a larger space in downtown Ocoee, complete with outdoor seating that fits right into the area's pace.

Doughnuts worth the drive

Doughnuts from DG Doughnuts in Downtown OcoeeWalking inside, your senses are immediately filled with the scent of sugar and dough. The counters are lined with an assortment of treats to pick from. The windows are lined with plants, giving the shop a cozy, neighborhood feel. It's the kind of place where people pause, look over the case, and take their time choosing.

In addition to yeast doughnuts, DG offers a mix of sweet and savory options. Unicorn horns, fritters, kolaches, and breakfast bagel sandwiches make it easy to find something for every kind of craving. Even those without a sweet tooth have solid options.

The seasonal and holiday flavors are where DG really shines. Current offerings include Valentine's Day favorites like "Pretty in Pink", a fluffy yeast doughnut dipped in strawberry icing with buttercream details, and a Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon Roll Fritter with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting and purple, yellow, and green sprinkles.

Why are these doughnuts worth the trip? Start with the texture. Light and fluffy, with just enough chew. Never greasy. The toppings add a playful, colorful finish that makes them just as fun to look at (and Instagram-worthy) as they are to eat.

What are our favorite picks from DG Doughnuts?

  • Rainbow sprinkles, piled on thick with no bare spots
  • The Boston cream
  • Classic cinnamon sugar

Sometimes it is really that simple.

Five Miles (or Less) Can Change The Feel Of A Weekend

That quick drive from downtown Windermere to downtown Ocoee is a reminder of how many small downtown pockets exist across greater Orlando. Each with their own rhythm, local favorites, and familiar faces.

It's also why neighborhoods between Windermere and Ocoee often stand out. Communities like Reserve at Belmere, Wesmere, Brookestone, and Admiral Pointe offer easy access to both areas. Close enough to Windermere's shopping, dining, and weekly markets, with downtown Ocoee just a short drive away for mornings like this.

Sometimes it is just five miles (or less) to better doughnuts.
