Celebrating and Observing Memorial Day in Orlando: Honoring Our Heroes

Memorial Day Weekend has been known as a kick-off to summer and there are so many ways to celebrate. We are also taking a moment to remember and honor the brave service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice, while reflecting on the freedoms we have today because of them. As Orlando area residents and visitors join together this weekend, we have gathered 5 local events in the Orlando metro area that offer meaningful ways to commemorate this important day.

1. Memorial Day 2023 Observance | Windermere Town Hall in Windermere, FL | May 29, 12pm
   • Rotary Club of Windermere Memorial Day Observance - The Rotary Club of Windermere organizes a Memorial Day observance event at the Windermere Town Hall. This gathering honors and remember fallen heroes through patriotic music, presentation of the colors, hanging of the wreath & taps.
     
     
2. Memorial Day Community Ceremony | Veterans Memorial Park in Winter Garden, FL | May 29, 8:15am - 9:30am

   • Winter Garden hosts an annual Memorial Day Community Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Park. This event brings together local residents, veterans, and active-duty military personnel to honor the fallen. The ceremony includes a roll call of Veterans, patriotic songs, wreath-laying, and speeches paying tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 

3. Memorial Day Flag Ceremony | Founders Park in Celebration, FL | May 27, 10am - 11am

   • Celebration Town Hall in conjunction with the Veterans Club of Celebration will host a Memorial Day Flag Ceremony in Founders Park to  to commemorate the brave men and women who have served in the military.

4. Memorial Day Service | Edgewood/Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, FL | May 29, 11am

   • The City of Apopka and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10147 hosts the community to come together and pay tribute to our fallen military heroes at the Veterans Memorial as they honor and commemorate the lives and legacies of those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country and the precious freedoms we hold dear.

5. Memorial Day Veterans Tribute | Oviedo on the Park Veteran's Memorial in Oviedo, FL | May 29, 5:30pm - 6:00pm
   • Join together for a Memorial Day tribute honoring the unwavering dedication of all past and present military personnel. The event will commence at sundown, marked by a TAPS presentation. This commemorative gathering is hosted at the Oviedo on the Park Veteran's Memorial.
